downgrade after upgrading?
getting tired from vista,
its been 6 months and i still didnt manage to install sp1, microsoft couldnt came up with a solution to my problem and so i decided to give up on vista and roll back to xp. question is how?
my laptop is dell inspiron 6400 that originally came with xp installed on (but no installation cd).
i used vista ultimate upgrade cd in order to insall vista.
i tried using the ctrl+F11 thingy, but it wont response, i guess vista deleted the partition, becuase when using the disk manager i saw this partition is empty.
ok so anybody can help me out?
i got an original upgrade vista ultimate cd, and another xp pro upgrade cd back home, but no original clean-install cd.
how do i get my laptop back to how it was in day one when i first opened it?
please help :(
- Why don't you try Dell Chat: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/chat/en/hardware_chat and see if they can send you a reinstallation disk. I know they sent me a reinstallation disk for my daughters laptop in case I ever had reformat/reintall which I already had to do.
-frank: i dont think that thats possible? just uninstalling your software as if it was a program?

- alexia: its a good idea, problem is i'm from outside the states, and dell wont provide this kind of service (the chat option) to my country. :\
any other ideas please? maybe there's any online restore file available for the inspiron 6400 by dell?

If you did not remove the XP restore partition you might get it fixed by
using the steps on this link ,
I did this about a week ago on a Inspiron 600m computer that was upgraded from
XP Home to XP Pro
and the person wanted to go back to the Dell XP H version
with factory restore ,it worked for me by using a specal built
CD ISO that restored the master boot record and CTRL + F11 for XP H
if the {partition} is gone this will not work but it is worth a try !!
And
you can not remove Vista in the control panel that was never an option with Vista
as a upgrade !!

If you upgrade the XP to Vista, and you want the XP back, suppose can uninstall the Vista in the control panel--P
