Frustrating experience with Automatic Updates and SP2
I have a Dell 2400 with XP Home SP1 preinstalled. Automatic Updates is turned on, set to notify me before downloading critical updates. Well, about 15 minutes ago, a small window popped up from my systray announcing SP2 was ready to download. Hurrah! Finally! I clicked "download," the small window disappeared, and nothing happened! LOL.
The way you have been hopping up and down, fuzzing and peeing your pants all week about this I am not surprised you are frustrated. Just have a little patience for god's sake! You will get SP2 eventually, promise...
I'm only doing the AU process for SP-2 so I can learn how MS is doing it. I have many "very-biginner" friends I can help/assist/advise/etc. about this.
Now with my luck it will begin installing and require a reboot the second Google's IPO starts.
At least yours is doing something. My drive is filled with new files and folders and nothing is happening. Nor is the AU icon in the sys tray.I also have a download meter running (DU Meter) and nothing is downloading.

No, SP2 for Home Edition was released on August 18th. Other people have reported downloading it. And I received a notification that SP2 was available 30 minutes ago. SP2 for Pro users should be available on August 25.
When I saw the notification window, I clicked "download," the window disappeared and nothing happened. Then, I rebooted the PC and the AU icon suddenly appeared, saying it was downloading something. Still at 0%. Don't know if this is normal or another glitch with AU. We shall see.

Lawn...
I'd like a status report on your SP2 Automatic Update.
