That is common in IE. Mozilla Firefox does not have that problem as much.

That is a brilliant idea to save favicons. I have Earthlink set to automatically clean out the TIF, and unwanted cookies when I close the IE browser. Although I use Firefox,(when has it's own cache) and it saves the favicons, I was a little disappointed that IE would not save them.

I will have to try that trick.

Those are part of offline content, so they will stay until you delete files through tools or until IE does it at the normal dump time.

Denny can probably give you a definite answer, but I would think that if you delete a favorite, then save it again, you may have to change the icon to the one you saved in your icon folder, as in Denny's instructions.

(Side note: Denny's instructions did not work for me at first, but when I changed the default browser from AVANT back to IE, it worked like a charm!!)

I still use Firefox most of the time, however.

ONe last thing, how do I get the websites to reload the favicons, as if I just delete the favorite and reinstall it I do not get the favicon again?

If you download FavOrg from the link provided in the text link I provided (the link is to the download at the bottom of this page) all you need to do is run FavOrg. It wlil scan all your favorites, collect any favicons that are associated with them, save them in a data file, and place them by each favorite.
