I was trying to delete some of the pictures in "my Pictures" file by holding down the ctrl tab and then deleting. Now I have up to 100 copies of the same picture. What happened? How can I now delete hundreds of pics?

Highlight the first one. Then, hold the shift key and highlight the last one. Then, position the cursor over one picture, hold the shift key, right click and left click on delete.
Note the recommendation in your prior post re: disabling the single click.
