Okay, so I have an XPS M1730 laptop, came with a 250 gig hard drive, never came anywhere near filling it up. I recently had to reinstall my operating system (Vista Home) and after restoring a small number of programs (maybe, 10gigs worth of docs, pics, etc.) I was told that my hard drive was full. Could reinstalling the operating system have caused this and if so how do I go about fixing the problem?
Okay so it is installed on the C drive, I made sure of that. I talked to a friend this morning and he mentioned reformatting the drive as well. I was working off a set of instructions I found online and I don't really recall doing that so if you could point me to some info on the subject that would be great.
Did you first format the drive prior to installing Windows? Is the 250 gig hard drive partitoned into separate drives? You may have installed it on another drive other than the "C" partition.
Doesn't the hard drive in this system have Image Restore which will reset the drive to exactly the way Dell shipped it with all drivers and factory installed software, all in less than ~10 minutes?
