Partitioning Software
I need to add a HD to a Dell 2350 so that I can keep an image of the base system for backup on a system that doesn't get the maintenance (security updates, anti-v files, etc.) it really needs. From what I can see, I cannot really add a separate physical HD. I didn't look to see before I went and bought a new drive.
I'd like to remove the original drive and install the new drive with at least two, maybe three, partitions. If I use only 2 partitions, the second will hold an image of the first and perhaps backups. If I have 3 partitions, then I'd use one for the primary image and backups, and one for all data. By having smaller logical drives I hope the system will be defragged more often.
I have two questions:
- What partitioning software do you like the most? My local stores carry Norton Partition Magic 8.0 and VCOM Partition Commander 9.0.
- If I separate the data, where in the XP setup do I tell it to put "My Documents" on a particular disk (ie. partition)?
Thanks for your help!
