When I try and empty my recycle bin it empties but for some reason after that it says it still has stuff in it still. I try to empty again and it says delete 'windows' and everything i try to do this nothing happens. I tried viewing hidden files and there is nothing in the bin!!!!! What should I do?!
This glitch happens once in a while. To correct it, go to Display Properties, Desktop, Customize & choose to change the empty recycle icon. Then pick the same icon, click on Apply, OK and it will show correctly.
You should never see the Unerase Wizard in XP, since XP doesn't have it. You must have an upgrade over an older Windows or Norton Protected Recyle bin installed. Norton PRB should be disabled since it causes all kinds of problems and/or you should do a Clean Install. BTW, you are wasting lots of disk space with that many deleted files!
I'm confused by the difference in the number of files shown if I left click the Recycle Bin icon and when I right click it. A left click brings up the UnErase Wizard, and it shows I have 1588 files there. If I right click, then click Explore or Open, I seem to have about 75 to 100 files listed. Is this a manifestation of the same problem posted originally? For a long time I thought that there were two entities: one for recycling (whatever that is), and one for recovering. Now it appears they are the same thing, but just look different. Can someone explain this to me?
