Roxio DirectCD Driver Problem

I do not have a CD Burner in my Dimension 2350 desktop.  I inserted a CD that was created with a Dimension computer that has a CD burner to download some data.  Since then every time I start my computer I receive a message that says, "DirectCD driver has been disabled because it will make your computer unstable".  I am unable to find the driver to remove it or to unsinstall whatever program is causing the problem.  Any solution ideas?

I am having the exact same problem.  Dell technical support told me they will send me 6 disks to do a total reinstall.  What a pain!  Please tell me there is a better solution.

There is a better solution!!!  I was desparate and was willing to try anything.

I noticed under C:\Program Files/Roxio there were two folders--one was Easy CD Creator 5 and the other was DirectCD.  I decided to try uninstall the Easy CD Creator 5 Basic under Add or Remove Programs.  I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it with the Roxio CD that came with the computer.  I have just started my computer 3 times and have not gotten that annoying little "bleep" with that even more annoying message.  Try it and let me know if it works for you!

The original poster does not have a CD Burner so they would not have Roxio to uninstall/reinstall.

What was the data that you copied to your PC from the Direct CD (UDF) generated disk?  It sounds like Direct CD or some part of it was included in the data you copied from that disk.

You can recover - restore your PC - to a date before you installed that data and it MAY correct the problem (and MAY remove the data you installed).

To access System Restore, Click Start, then Click Run.  Enter in the Open field  msconfig  and then click OK.  When the Panel comes up, click on the Launch System Restore button at the bottom of the panel.  Follow the instructions to restore the PC to an earlier time.  When you get to the date/time selection panel, select a restore point (date) BEFORE you installed data from the CD.  This MAY get you back to where you were before you installed the data.  System Restore also has an option to undo the last restore so it it doesn't help or causes other problems, just go back in and select the undo last restore and it will put your PC back the way it was before you ran the System Restore.

Do you think my problem then is actually solved? Should I not transfer files via CD from my other computer which has the DirectCD program?  What would be the best way to get my data from one computer to another?  What good is having a burner to make data CDs if it just corrupts the next computer?  Thank you for your help.

Yes, I had this installed on my computer then my father went and unistalled it.  I would just reinstall it but it was preinstalled and I don't have the Cd.  What should I do.
