I have Dell 4600 with XP Professional. When I start computer it takes 3 - 5 minutes before desktop and icons are displayed. Everything else is running fine. I have searched for virus' and ran scandisc, and cleaned out all temp folders. Could delay be caused in McAfee settings? Your assistance is apprieciated.
I have an hp psc2175 all-in-one with the memory slots on the front printer. How does that effect the boot? Is it checking for a link-up before proceeding with the boot command?
The 4600 is checking to see if there is a bootable memory card in the printer. To fix this, go into the BIOS and under Integrated Devices, set the USB emulation to off (or if possible, to no boot).
Wow yer smart. Nice job you pegged that one. The minute I pulled the USB connection to the printer and re-started the unit, It was clear you know how to troubleshoot. Reset the USB Emulation to OFF in the BIOS and restarted pute, ran a quick print test with no snags. Great Job

Do you have a printer with a memory card reader attached to your computer?
