~~Virus Issues Perhaps~~

I don't know if I have a virus or not but for some reason my NAV hasn't been on in a while or my windows update. I didn't know this until recently. I can't even go to the windows update...well, I can, but it won't do a thing.  Would this have anything to do with when I downloaded the XP2 a while back~? That is pretty much when my issues began with NAV acting up, I believe.   I also keep gettin MSN messages that I have a warning  that I have a virus (beagle) and if I don't do something about it my subscription will be terminated. I have a friend whom told me to buy "Seagate" hard drive. This week he is going to help me cleanse my pc with this. Can someone go into more detail on "Seagate"~?  Also, could I have a virus~? Could that be causing me problems with boot up~?  Like only my desktop, no icons, no task bar~?  Or even a black moniter screen with a flashing underscore line flashing~?

It might help to know something about the system model you're having problems with, but it sounds to me like it's time for a clean installation of Windows on a formatted drive.  Bit of a cumbersome job, but still a lot easier than trying to track down multiple glitches and suspected bugs.  You will want to find out why your AV app and Windows Update weren't working properly, though, although both those issues should be gone with a clean installation, assuming that everything is installed and configured properly.

When you get error messages, etc. that you believe to have something to do with a current problem, it's helpful if you copy the messages accurately, and reproduce same in that form here.  "I also keep gettin MSN messages that I have a warning  that I have a virus (beagle) and if I don't do something about it my subscription will be terminated" is a bit on the ambiguous side, but it sounds like one of your MSN apps is trying to send a virus from your system, and that MSN wants you to clean things up.  I'd suggest keeping the system offline until the problems have been corrected.
