Vista Ultimate and 966 Printer

I just installed Vista Ultimate and installed my dell 966 printer. Everything works fine. Only problem is when I reboot the computer, windows locks up when it first starts to load (the little bar that shows the progress stops half way) But when I unplug the USB cable from the back of my printer, windows starts to load from the point where it locked up. Now every time I reboot I need to make sure the cable is unplugged from my printer fot it to boot properly. Any ideas on this fix?

This is a known issue for a long time with USB connected "non bootable" devices.  The fix is to set the USB to "no boot" in the BIOS (may not be the exact wording but whatever it is in your BIOS so that the BIOS does not try to boot from a USB device).

The issue is, with the BIOS set to look for a USB bootable device, it will see the printer and query it to boot, but since the printer is not a bootable device it will not answer.  It has to go through a "time out cycle" which can take a little time and thus the delay.
