1. Are you saying that at boot-up (powering-up Computer) it launches a screen which you call Dell Media.
2. If it is Dell Media Experience - then advise me as I had same problem to solve.
1. A menu exists in DMX Deluxe Version - and maybe in Basic Version also - to prevent DMX screen displaying at boot-up.
2. In the deluxe version of DMX you perform paragraph 3 & 4.sequence; (if however you have DMX Basic version it may be identical or similar.
3. DO THIS: Click(>)Desktop DMX icon > "Settings" in main window. Now you should see at top RH side - "Startup Destination". Now when you toggle "arrows <>" it displays text in the blue strip, either, "To Windows" or "To Dell Media Experience". SET TO "To Windows"
4. Now to be sure of correct operation SHUTDOWN computer and then BOOTUP again,
............. DMX should have gone at startup - hopefully.

I don't have an icon on my desktop for this. I opened it up using the Start button and found the menus that you 'toggle' through - although it wasn't called Settings.
There isn't an option for me to change as you described.
Did this solve the problem for you or do you have any more ideas for me.
1. From your last message I reckon you have the Basic version of Dell Media Experience (DMX) in which case my information to disable the launching at BootUp is inaccurate as it pertains to DMX Deluxe version only. To answer your question, Yes! it did solve the problem for DMX Deluxe.
2. I would expect that the (DMX) Basic software program would have to include a Menu feature to disable the opening screen. I do not recall how the screens and Menu items are displayed in the Basic version.
3. What is needed is a step-by-step (Click-by-Click) description so that you can follow it to disable your own DMX Basic at launch.
4. You need to place a message here to get this from a Forum member who has the program, but that would be the long way round as I just as well do that for you in this thread – so here goes!
……….URGENT…………. URGENT………
4.1 This is for Sundayegirl who has the Basic version of Dell Media Experience and wants to disable the display of the program main screen at BootUp. Will Forum members please look at your DMX screens and discover the procedure for disabling at Bootup. The information for Sundayegirl will need to be Click-by-Click steps with named menu items given. Please post a message to Sundayegirl at earliest opportunity – Thanks.
Good Luck……….cdtUK
ps Remember I will be able to view the threads in response to above – so as to keep in touch.
I just recently started to have the same problem on my Inspiron. As Sundayegirl says, it's not the software that is opening at boot up but the Folder Dell (which is under Program Files and contains the Media Experience software). I ran msconfig and looked at all the startup items (since there wasn't anything in my StartUp folder itself). This folder opening seems to be related (on my notebook anyway) with the program memcard.exe (Memory Card Manager) which came with my Dell AIO Printer 942. If I uncheck this file in msconfig startup, then the folder does not open.
The folder only started opening recently after I purchased a digital camera and have been using Memory Card Manager to copy photos off of it and onto my notebook. It didn't open at first. . .just in the last couple of days. Could I have accidentally made a setting in Memory Card Manager when using it that is now causing this folder to open on boot-up?
I don't know if Sundayegirl has this printer and if memcard.exe is also running on her system, but it seems an odd coincidence that it's the same folder that's opening on bootup.
I contacted Dell Support directly, but didn't realise that software support doesn't exist on-line (even though Dell supplied this software!)
Anyway, does anyone have any ideas as why this is happening and how to stop it (short of stopping memcard.exe itself from loading, which is always an option.)
