windows 7 upgrade

Hi all, I have a dell dimension 1100 and I have just upgraded to windows 7, the trouble I have is that I cant change the resolution it looks to large for the screen, I have been told I need to upgrade my graphics card if this is true what is a good compatible card which wont cost the earth, I'm not iterested in gaming so it dousn't need to cater for that. Please help.

    Thank you for contacting the Dell Community Forums.  It sounds like you need to update the driver for your graphics card, and not the card itself.  What kind of graphics card do you have in your computer currently?

    It looks like your system shipped with an Intel video controller built in to the motherboard.  That is most likely the one you're currently using.  Since Dell doesn't have Windows 7 or Windows Vista drivers for your graphics controller (it looks like driver support for this controller stopped with Windows XP), my advice is to try installing the Windows XP drivers for the card (available here) in Windows XP compatiblity mode.  Instructions for installing drivers in XP compatibility mode can be found here.
