Hi, I don't know where to post this. I bought my mother a Dell Inspiron 530 w/ VISTA premium (but it did this on her old pc w/ winME too).
When we click on her hotmail favorite in IE7, her mailbox flashes by then we get the message "Please enable cookies". I've changed all the setting hotmail says to, added live.com to the privacy sites, but it still happens. But most of the time when the message comes up we just click the link again and we're in ok.
Thanks,
Christine

Yes, Even when I set it to the lowest - accept all cookies. Still happens, the inbox comes up, then the Enable Cookie message. Why won't it stay on the inbox?
Also more info....It may be just on the first time in an IE session.
Open IE
Click on hotmail link
Inbox comes up briefly, then Enable Cookie message
Click hotmail link again, in ok
go to other websites then click hotmail link and it's ok
Close IE and then Reopen IE
Click link get cookie message.
Thanks,
Christine

Well why don't you double check, I have been using hotmail and no problems here, cookies got to do with your browser and possibly any app that monitors your browsing.
test it out to be sure, I mean you are sure cookies are enabled in your browser if so I think that leaves the mentioned apps
Not sure I follow you. Double check what? The new pc has totally new programs and security. It started on her very old pc with win ME when Windows Live started.
find out what security apps are blocking the referrer ( if any) then disable the blocking of error in them thru their options and then try and see if it still says the same thing
It's just hotmail. Like I've said since they changed to Windows Live. I've done everything in the hotmail help. And it did this on her old pc also, so I don't think it's the new Dell or VISTA or Trendmicro, etc. Read my reply a couple up. It's only on the first open of IE7. Inbox shows briefly then the cookie message. Click link again we're in. Then we can browse to other websites, come back still in.
But if we close IE and reopen it, go to hotmail - happens again.
THINK ABOUT IT !!! It's NOT any security software blocking anything, otherwise she wouldn't be able to get into Hotmail simply by clicking a second time. I've looked at MANY of your "answers" and most of them are "I think" or "maybe" or "I'm not sure", or "I haven't tried this but...", etc. etc. These are not really helpful to anyone!
volvogirl1,
Is this happening only on one particular site when you click the link or on any site?
