I have a Dell XPS 600 running Windows XP Professional. Windows stops reinstalling half way with a prompt for the file ASMS (service pack 2) and ask for the file location. The problem is my bios is not recognizing the DVD or CD rom drive where the file is located. When I try to reset to the default setting it resets but still does not recognize the ROM drives. This Bios has raid on or off which I think is supossed to help find the drives for the Bios. But still does not. Is there a way I can stop the auto Windows install when the computer boots up?
You need to provide more info if you want an answer from users. Model computer, operating system, reason for the reinstall, any error messages for a start.
I apologize for my English, I do not speak English so I use google translate!
I have the same problem as CNARD ...
Here's more information hoping to solve my problem:
I have a Dimension 9200 computer that was purchased with VISTA PRO, it's been three years that I have and I did reinstall at least 5 times. In short I spent the details ... The problem from Vista I decided to reinstall XP. But as I put it in RAID or SATA nothing works.
If I put it in RAID has a blue screen and error code 7B, if I installed it in SATA agrees to settle, but does not restart the hard disk it always asks the installation cd.
