Working offline

Hi I just bought a new computer with windows 8.1, and can find no way to disable my internet connection. This is a home computer, and I don't need or want it on all the time. Is there a way to disable it short of disconnecting the Ethernet cord? Thanks

Ok, you don't "need or want it on all the time", but what is the harm?  Why do you need/want to disable the Internet connection so badly?  Why not just keep it connected?

You can disable your network connection:

    • Right-click network icon in the Notification Area (bottom-right corner), Network/Sharing Center
    • Change Adapter Settings (link on left side)
    • Right-click network connection, Disable

Just enable to restore network connectivity.

Found it. Thank you. No harm, but I have always disabled my internet when not using it.
