xp home doesn't detect joystick
xp home has recently stopped detecting my usb logitech joystick. the stick is detected in device manager, under human interface device (hid), but not in control panel. i've gone as far as deleting all the usb entries, and the hid entries in device manger and forcing windows to redetect but it's not seeing it. i've also tried to "add" a generic stick in control panel but still no go. any suggestions? thanks.

If the controller appears in Device Manager, right-click the controller name and then click Properties. Problems and suggested actions are displayed under Device status. Also, have you tested the port by plugging another USB device into the same port(s) you're using for the joystick?
Most forced-feedback joysticks require that their specific drivers be installed to work at all.
