Why is the external video on my Dell notebook not centered or fuzzy?

This article provides information resolving an issue with either a fuzzy screen or a screen that isn't centered on a Dell Notebook.

Update the Video Driver

To download the video driver, perform the following steps :

1. Browse to the Dell Support Site.

2. Click the link for Downloads.

3. Search for the latest video driver for your system.

Set the monitor and LCD panel to primary

To set both the monitor and LCD panel to primary, perform the following steps :

1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

   The Control Panel window appears.

2. Double-click the Display icon.

   The Display Properties window appears. 

3. Click the Settings tab, and then click the Advanced button.

   The ATI Properties window appears.

4. Click the ATI Displays tab.

5. Click the top left corner of both the Monitor and Panel buttons.

   The word Primary will no longer be grayed out.

6. Click Apply and then click OK.

   The ATI Properties window closes.

7. Click OK.

   The Display Properties window closes.
