The steps below detail the process of clearing all zoning configurations on an MDS switch, including: fcaliases, zonesets and zones. If you wish to remove individual zones from a zoneset then refer KB 517042 : Cisco: How to deactivate and remove a zone using CLI https://support.emc.com/kb/517042.
Hi everyone.
In this video, let us learn how to clear zoning configuration using CLI on a Cisco MDS switch. This procedure details the process of clearing all zone configurations, including FCADs, zone sets, and zones. If you wish to remove individual zones from a zone set, refer to the knowledge base article How to deactivate and remove a zone using CLI.
Now, firstly determine the names of the active zone sets for a VSAN. In this example, we will clear all the zoning associated with zone set 33 on VSAN 33. Note: Ensure you select the correct VSAN. Remember, all fabric will be affected by this change in case the switch is not a standalone switch.
Now step number 2 is to deactivate the zone set 33 on VSAN 33. If enhanced zoning mode is used, you need to commit the change after each step. Step number 3 is to remove the zone set 33 from the configuration. Step number 4 is to clear all the zones from the database associated with VSAN 33.
Step 5 is to verify the zones and if areas are deleted or cleared. You can see that all the configuration is removed. Step 6 is to save the running configuration to startup configuration.
