In this video, we review two ways to check if your older Dell computer can run Windows 11. You can either use Dell's website compatibility list or the Microsoft PC Health Check app to confirm your system's eligibility.
Here are two ways to check if your older Dell computer can run Windows 11. One way is to use the Dell website to find the Windows compatibility list. Click on the Windows “Start” button to search for and open “System Information”. In the “System Summary” section find “System Model” where you’ll see the exact name of the system and version you have. Now open a web browser and go to Dell.com/Support. On the Dell Support page search for “Dell computers tested for update to Windows 11.”
Scroll down in the results and open the article resource with the same name. Go to and expand the section “Dell computers tested for Upgrade to Windows 11.” Select your computer model, and check if your version is listed. If it is, then your device is compatible with Windows 11. You can also check for Windows 11 compatibility in the Microsoft PC Health Check app. To get the app, open a web browser and go to aka.ms/GetPCHealthCheckApp. The Health Check app should start downloading immediately.
When the download is finished go to the “Downloads” folder and click on the file to install it. Accept the terms, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. When the installation is finished check the box next to “Open Windows PC Health Check,” and click “Finish.” When the app opens, click on “Check now.”
Choose the option “See all results” and check the compatibility details. If your PC is not eligible for a Windows 11 update you will see why here. Exit the app when you are finished. If you have any questions about Windows 11 compatibility contact us via one of the options on our support website so we can assist you.
