In this video, we'll show you how to fix apps that are crashing, freezing, or not opening in Windows 11. Learn how to check for updates, repair or reset apps, and reinstall them for smooth functionality.
Try these quick fixes if your apps are crashing, freezing, or not opening. First, make sure Windows is up to date. Click on the Windows “Start” button and open “Settings”. Select “Windows Update” and click on “Check for updates”. If there are any pending updates, the button will change to “Download now”. Click on the button to start the process. A system restart may be required to finish the update.
Repair or reset the application. Note that this option only works for native Windows 11 apps or apps installed from the official Microsoft Store. Click on the Windows “Start” button and type “Installed apps” into the search bar. Open the result. Click on the three dots next to the chosen app and select “Advanced options”. Click on “Terminate” to make sure the program is stopped. Under “Reset”, click on “Repair” to prompt Windows to run a possible fix for the application.
Test the app. If the issue persists, click “Terminate” again and click “Reset”. Wait for the pop-up confirmation and click “Reset” again. Note that using the “Reset” option will delete app data and any saved configurations. If these steps were unsuccessful, let's try reinstalling the application. In the “Installed apps” window, click on “Uninstall” and then reinstall the app as outlined by the app developer’s specific instructions.
While doing this, it is recommended to have access to the App Installer file, whether it’s through the Microsoft Store, a downloaded file, a USB drive, or a CD. You should also have the product or security code handy. If you have any questions about the information in this video, contact us via one of the options on our support website so we can assist you.
