Prerequisites
NOTE: Opening or removing the system cover when the system is on may expose you to a risk of electric shock. Exercise utmost care while removing or installing fans.
Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system:
Power off the system and all attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and disconnect the peripherals.
If applicable, remove the system from the rack.
Remove the front system cover.
Remove the rear system cover.
Removing the air shroud.
Removing a cooling fan
Press the release tabs on the fan cable connector and disconnect it from the connector on the system board.
Lift the fan out of the fan cage.
Installing a cooling fan:
Lower the fan into the fan cage.
Press the release tabs on the fan cable connector and connect the cable connector to the connector on the system board.
NOTE: Route the cable properly when installing, to prevent the cable from being pinched or crimped.
Install the air shroud..
Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system:
Install the rear system cover.
Install the front system cover.
If applicable, install the system into the rack.
Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet.
Turn on the attached peripherals and then turn on the system.
