Hello, everyone. My name is JD Duncan. I am a client systems engineer for Dell, and today, I'll be talking to you about our Dell Client Command Suite, specifically the Dell Client Integration Suite for SCCM. The Dell Client Command Suite is a free suite of tools that helps customers manage their client devices, integrate drivers, and deploy Dell client systems more easily.
Today, we’re focusing specifically on the Dell Client Integration Suite for SCCM. This integration suite is a plug-in for Microsoft System Center that integrates with other tools in our Dell Client Command Suite, including Dell Command Configure, Dell Command Monitor, and Dell Command Update. It also integrates Intel vPro, but we’ll cover that in a separate session.
To get started, you would install the Dell Integration Suite for SCCM on the system where you have your Microsoft Endpoint Management Console installed. This does not have to be the SCCM server itself. It can be any system you use to manage your SCCM server.
Installation Process:
First, go to Dell.com/command to download the Integration Suite software. Click on the link for the Integration Suite for System Center and then download the software. After downloading, install it on the system that you manage your SCCM console with. Make sure to run the installer as an administrator.
Using the Dell Easy Button:
One of the easy ways to integrate Dell client systems is by using the Dell Command System Driver Library import. This feature is part of the integration suite, and it allows you to quickly download the latest drivers for your systems.
- Open SCCM and navigate to your operating systems driver packages.
- Look for the Dell Easy button called "Dell Command System Driver Library Import."
- Click this button to open an import wizard.
- The wizard will prompt you to enter any proxy settings if needed. It will then download the latest driver catalog.
- Once downloaded, it will ask which operating system and models you're working with. For example, select Windows 10 64-bit and choose the Latitude model.
- After selecting the model, it will show a list of available drivers along with the release date, version, and file size.
- Choose your desired distribution point and confirm the path where the drivers will be saved.
Once the drivers are downloaded, they will be available for deployment within your task sequence in SCCM. You can add this driver package to your task sequence, target it for deployment, and start installing it on your systems.
Updating Boot Images:
Another challenge is when new models come in with a new chipset, like Intel or AMD, and you need to update your boot images for Pixie servers or USB keys to work correctly. We have a button for this under Boot Images, called the WPE Driver Library Import button.
- This will fetch the latest WPE drivers from the Dell site.
- After selecting the correct version, it will automatically update your boot image and inject the necessary drivers.
- The updated boot image can then be used in your task sequences, so you don't have to manually import drivers and manage boot images.
Additional Tools:
The Dell Command Software Gallery Easy Button is also available, which helps you download and create application packages for tools like Dell Command Update, Dell Command Monitor, and Dell Power Management. These applications are frequently updated, and this button makes the process much easier compared to manually downloading and creating packages.
For importing Dell Command Monitor and Dell Command Configure packages, these buttons are located under the packages folder in SCCM. They simplify the process of configuring BIOS settings and adding services for system monitoring.
Creating Task Sequences:
The Dell Task Sequence Creation button allows you to create custom task sequences for your Dell-specific settings and applications. It simplifies adding Dell Command Configure packages, configuring BIOS, and deploying OS images or scripted installs.
Conclusion:
These easy buttons are integrated into the Dell Client Integration Suite to simplify the process of working with Dell client systems in SCCM. They save you time, making it easier to integrate drivers, update boot images, and manage application deployments.
