In this video, we show how to replace the PBB assembly, in a PowerEdge XE7740. To remove the PBB assembly, first, remove the HPM assembly and E3 backplane tray out of the system. Then remove the GPU cards, GPU shrouds, OCP and the PSUs. Now slide out the GPU bracket out of the system. Next, remove the screws on the GPU shroud assembly and slide it up to move out of the system.
Remove the screws on front cable holders and disconnect the cables from the system. Then disconnect the GPU fan board cables. Now loosen the screws on both sides of the chassis and gently tilt the guiding supporter from one side, slide it and lift it out of the system. Remove the screws on rear cable holders and disconnect the cables from the system. Disconnect the cables from the VPB assembly.
Remove the six screws on each side the chassis, slide the chassis bar bracket from its slots to remove it from the system. Loosen the captive screws on the PBB assembly and lever cam arm Rotate the arm to 120 degree to disengage it from the VPB assembly.
Then remove the screws on the VPB and lift it out of the system. Holding the support handles, tilt and lift the assembly out of the system. To install the PBB assembly, holding the support handles, tilt at an angle and insert the assembly into the system. Align the VPB assembly with the guiding pins and insert firmly until it is fully seated.
Then tighten the screws. Rotate the arm to the starting position and make sure the power pin is fully connected to the VPB assembly. Then tighten the screws on the PBB assembly and on the lever cam arm. Reconnect the cables to VPB assembly. Align and slide the chassis side bar brackets and tighten them. Reconnect the GPU fan board cables.
Then reconnect the cables on the rear and tighten with the screw. Install the rear cable holder and tighten with the screw. Tilt the GPU guiding supporter slightly from one side and slide it toward the rear to fit it with the T-nut and then tighten the screws on the chassis. Connect the cables on the front and tighten with the screw.
Then Slide in the GPU shroud assembly in its place and tighten the screws. Now, align and slide the GPU bracket. For more information or support about the PowerEdge XE7740, visit, Dell.com/Support.
