In this video we will cover getting around with the Dell OpenManage Plug-In 1.0 for Nagios XI once you have successfully installed the plug in and discovered Dell devices.
We will first cover the ways to monitor the Dell devices supported by this plug-in such as Dell 12th and later generations of Dell PowerEdge servers through the agent-free method by using Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller or iDRAC with Lifecycle Controller.

We will also see how to launch a device console, view KB articles for any traps that are received for a device, and view Warranty information of devices in the Nagios XI console.
First, login to Nagios XI with your credentials. In the left pane, the Service Detail view displays the discovered devices along with the discovered services and other status information.
The Host Detail view displays the discovered devices that you can monitor. This view also displays the status information of the discovered hosts.
To view the information for a particular host, click the Host IP displayed in the Host tab. This view displays the host status detail along with its information.
If you want to troubleshoot this device, you can launch the device’s console by clicking in the Advanced tab. Click the View in Nagios Core link available under the More Options menu. Now click the Extra Actions icon on the left.
The console is launched in a new window. Login with your credentials and troubleshoot any issues with that device. In the Host information page, you can also perform further actions such as viewing alert history or viewing status detail.
For detailed monitoring of the selected host, just click on View Status Detail For This Host. Here, all the device information is displayed in detail along with their component health status, warranty information, and any traps that are received based on the protocol you have chosen during discovery.
Click on the View Alert History For This Host icon. You will then be able to view the alert history for this device. All received alerts are displayed in the Service Detail view under the Service column along with the alert severity in an appropriate color and its alert status information. In this example, we have launched the iDRAC console of a Dell PowerEdge R520 server.
You can get more information about the SNMP alerts generated by the discovered Dell devices from the KB messages for that device. To view the KB articles for a trap, click Service Detail view, Navigate to the respective device trap or alert, right-click More Information hyperlink under Status Information and then select Open in new tab.
The KB messages for the respective device is displayed in a new tab. Another feature of this plug-in is the warranty information for the supported devices.
The warranty information is displayed as a service in the Nagios XI console along with its alert severity and other service attributes. Let’s view the warranty information for a Dell PowerVault MD storage array.
To view the Warranty Information details for a device, simply click on the Warranty Information service for that device. Here, all the Warranty attributes such as Current Status, Status information, et cetera are displayed.
If you want to remove Dell services or hosts. First navigate to Configure, then select Core config manager. Before deleting a host, you must first delete all the services associated with that host.
Now click Services under Monitoring, click services and then delete the services associated with a host by clicking the X icon under Actions menu. Once all the services pertaining to the host are deleted, you can remove the host from your monitoring environment.
To do this, click Hosts, select the Host IP under Host Name, and then click the X icon under Actions menu. Click OK to confirm and then click Apply Configuration at the bottom of the page to commit your action.
