Hello, my name is Michael, and I'm a senior engineer here at Dell, and today we'll be installing open managed server administrator on an ESX host. And in my lab, I'm running a 65U3, so you do need to make sure that the version you download is compatible with the version you're running. So I go to ESX 65 and I'm looking for systems management. And the installation dip is right here and it says it is available for 65U3. We're gonna go ahead and download this. OK. And then we're gonna go back to our ESX web client and we're gonna browse our data store. This is an old version, so I'm gonna go ahead and remove that. And I'm gonna upload.
The one I just downloaded. OK, there it is right there. Close that. Now we'll go over here to our putty session. I will need to copy that file from. My data store into my temp directory, so copy. There's my downloaded file. It's gonna go on to temp. I'm gonna, I'm gonna change directories to temp. Now you can see that I have my installation file, my bundle right there. Now we're gonna go ahead and install. The full path Takes just a couple of minutes and this will be installed. And then when we browse open manage, well, we'll do it from another host. So I'm gonna use this host that I currently Did the Windows installation on.
So you do have to enable remote management. So you'll have to log into that system and enable it first. I already did, but I'll go through the process to show you. So you have to click on preferences. General settings, properties, and then manage system log on. You know, this is set to disabled by default, so you'll have to enable and hit apply at the bottom. I already made the changes so we can go back. And log out And then select log in and then select manage remote node.
This will allow us to put the IP address of the ESX host in here. You'll have to select ignore certificate warning. Let's check to make sure it's complete. It's still installing. OK. All right, it's completed. The install, reboot is not required. Uh, we're gonna give it just a minute or so to make sure the service is start up completely before we attempt to log into it. All right, let's go ahead and try it. And we may have done that a little early, so I'm gonna cancel this and try it one more time. Here we go. Just got in. All right. And then, That wraps up our installation of ESX and open manage serve administrator.
Thanks for watching.
