Bluetooth is a short-range wireless technology standard that is used in many devices such as Bluetooth keyboards, mouse, speakers, and headsets. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, the suggested quick steps might help.​

  • Cannot pair or connect Bluetooth devices
  • Intermittent connection issue with Bluetooth devices
  • Bluetooth devices get disconnected

Follow these quick steps to help you to resolve your Bluetooth issue.

Try each step and check if the Bluetooth issue is resolved. If the issue is not resolved, proceed to the next step.

Fix 1: Make sure that the Bluetooth is on and disable Airplane mode.

Click the Internet status icon on the lower right side of the taskbar and ensure that the Bluetooth tile is blue and the Airplane mode tile is white.

Fix 2: Ensure fresh batteries are installed in the external Bluetooth device.

Fix 3: Ensure the Bluetooth device you are going to pair is within 30 feet (10 meters) of the computer.

Fix 4: Ensure the latest driver for the Bluetooth adapter in the computer is installed. For more information, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: Download and Install the Latest Wireless Bluetooth Driver.

Fix 5: Optimize your Dell computer using the SupportAssist application.

The SupportAssist application will keep your computer running at its best.
  1. Press and hold the Windows key, and then press the Q key.
  2. Type SupportAssist in the search box.
  3. Select SupportAssist (App) from the results (If SupportAssist is not available on your computer, proceed to Fix 6.)

  4. Click Start now to Optimize your Dell computer. The SupportAssist application runs and provides you with results and any other action needed on your part.

Fix 6: Ensure your computer and the external Bluetooth device are paired or connected.

  1. Press and hold the Windows key, and then press the Q key.
  2. Type Bluetooth in the search box.
    a. Select Bluetooth and other devices settings (System settings) from the results.

  3. Check if your external Bluetooth device is listed under Input, Audio, or Other devices.
    (When your external Bluetooth device is listed but is still not working, select the device and then Remove device and pair the device again.)
  4. Select Add device.
  5. Select Bluetooth from the options.
  6. Make sure your external Bluetooth device is in Discovery mode.
    (See your Bluetooth device owner's manual for instructions on how to put your device in discovery mode.)
  7. Select the external Bluetooth device you want to pair. When the pairing is completed, select Done.

Fix 7: Run the hardware test to ensure your Bluetooth adapter is working correctly.

How to Connect Bluetooth Device to your PC in Windows 11

To connect a Bluetooth device to a Windows 11 PC, first turn on the device and ensure it's within range and has sufficient charge. Then, on the PC, go to "Bluetooth and other devices settings" and click "Add device". Select the Bluetooth device from the list and click "Connect". If necessary, confirm a PIN code. Once paired, the device should be visible under "Audio" or "Other devices" and can be connected by clicking "Connect". If the device is not listed, repeat the pairing process or contact @DellCares on Twitter for assistance.

To troubleshoot Bluetooth issues on Windows, run the Bluetooth troubleshooter by searching for "Troubleshoot" in Windows search, clicking on "Additional troubleshooters", and following the on-screen instructions. If the issue persists, seek additional assistance.
