In this video, we shot to replace the system board on a PowerEdge R760XS before moving the system board read through and follow the safety guidelines to protect your system from potential damage and ensure your personal safety. In order to remove the system board, you must first remove the cover air shroud fan cage assembly CP card heat seeking CPU and memory to remove the cover.
Use a screwdriver to rotate the lock counterclockwise to the unlocked position. Next, lift the release latch, then lift the cover from the system to remove the air shroud, hold the air shroud at both ends and lift it out of the system to remove the fan cage assembly, lift the blue release levers, holding the release levers, lift it up and away from the system to remove the OCP card, lift the OCP shroud and remove it next, open the blue latch to unlock it, then push it towards the rear of the system to disconnect it from the system board and slide it out to remove the heat sink loosen the first captive net three turns, then the opposite one loosen the remaining nets and return to the first and finish loosening it. Next set the anti tilt wires to the unlocked position.
Then lift the processor and heat sync module from the system. Repeat this process for the remaining heat sync at CPU to remove a memory module, press the ejectors at both ends of the memory module socket, then lift it away from the system. Repeat this process for the remaining modules to remove the system port, disconnect the power and data cables, lift the blue plunger and slide it towards the front of the system.
Then lift and remove the board from the system to install the system board the line and place it into the system, slide it towards the back of the system until it clicks into place. Then reconnect the power and data cables to the board to install a memory module, align the edge connector with the alignment key on the memory module socket and insert it into the socket. Repeat this process for the remaining modules to install the processor and heat sync module align the pin one indicator to the socket on the system board and then lower into place.
Next set the anti tilt wires to the locked position, then tighten the first nut three times, then the opposite one, tighten the remaining nuts and return to the first nut to tighten completely repeat this process for the remaining heat sink and CPU to install the OCP card, a line and slide the card into the system until firmly seated, then close the latch to secure the card in place next a line and lower the OCP shroud into place to install the drive back plane cover, align and lower into the system and slide it towards the front of the system to install the fan cage assembly align the guide rails with the standoffs on the system and then press the release levers to lock the assembly into the system to install the air shroud, align it with chassis and lower until firmly seated to install the cover align the system cover with the guide slots on the system and place it on the system. Next close the system cover release slash.
