PowerVault 128T Device Drivers
These device drivers are for use with the PowerVault 128T Tape Library and
PowerVault 128T LTO Tape drive for Windows 2000. The LTO device driver
for Windows NT is also provided.
Note: The following assumes a PowerVault 128T Library and its tape drives
are present and the devices are attached and powered on.
This release contains the following drivers for the PowerVault 128T Tape
Library.
* PowerVault 128T Library Driver for Windows 2000
* PowerVault 128T LTO Drive Driver for Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000
Downloading the upgrade
1. Download and run the file 128TDRVR.EXE. The file will extract its
contents to the following locations:
x:\dell\drivers\128t\Driver* Contains the installation procedures.
x:\dell\drivers\128t\Driver\Library
* Contains the library driver for Windows 2000.
x:\dell\drivers\128t\Driver\LTO Drive
* Contains the LTO Drive Drivers for Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000.
Installing the Medium Changer Device Driver
1. Go to the desktop. Right click on My Computer and select Manage. The
Computer Management folder appears. Select Device Manager.
2. Find the Unknown Medium Changer in the device manager.
3. Right click the Unknown Medium Changer tape drive and select Properties
from the menu.
4. In the new window select the Driver tab.
5. Click the Update Driver button, this will start an installation wizard.
6. Click next to continue.
7. Select the option "Display a list of known drivers..." and click next.
8. Click Have Disk.
9. Enter the location of the extracted drivers (The default is
x:\Dell\Drivers\128T\Driver\Library).
10. Follow the rest of the instructions in the wizard to finish
installation.
Installing the LTO Tape Drive Driver for Windows 2000
11. Find the HP ULTRIUM-1 tape drive in the device manager.
12. Right click the HP ULTRIUM-1 tape drive and select Properties from the
menu.
13. In the new window select the Driver tab.
14. Click the Update Driver button, this will start an installation wizard.
15. Click next to continue.
16. Select the option "Display a list of known drivers..." and click next.
17. Select "Tape Drives" from the Hardware Type list. Click next
18. Click Have Disk.
19. Enter the location of the extracted drivers (The default is
x:\Dell\Drivers\128T\Driver\LTO Drive\W2K).
20. Follow the rest of the instructions in the wizard to finish
installation.
21. Repeat for additional LTO drives if necessary.
Installing the LTO Tape Drive Driver for Windows NT
1. Make sure that you are logged on to the host server or workstation with
Administrator privileges.
2. Click the Start button, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click the Tape Devices icon.
4. Click the Drivers tab.
5. Click the Add button.
6. Click the Have Disk button.
7. Type the location of the driver (The default is
x:\Dell\Drivers\128T\Driver\LTO Drive\NT).
8. Click the HP ULTRIUM-1 entry and click the OK button.
9. When the New SCSI Tape Device Found dialog box appears, click its OK
button.
10. Type the location of the driver hplto.sys (The default is
x:\Dell\Drivers\128T\Drivers\LTO Drive\NT).
11. Click the OK button in the Tape Devices dialog box.
12. Restart the host server or workstation.
13. After the server or workstation restarts, log on with Administrator
privileges, click the Start button, point to Settings, click Control
Panel, double-click the Tape Devices icon, and make sure the PowerVault
110T LTO drive device driver is loaded. If the device driver is not
loaded, repeat the installation beginning at step 1.
These device drivers are for use with the PowerVault 128T Tape Library and
PowerVault 128T LTO Tape drive for Windows 2000. The LTO device driver
for Windows NT is also provided.
