Fixes & Enhancements
Fixes - Many Bug Fixes - Fixed issue when performing a firmware update on Seagate SED hard drives
Enhancements - Code Optimization for speedier responses to CLI commands - Support for RHEL 8
Dell Technologies recommends reviewing this update to determine if it applies to your system. The update contains changes that impact only certain configurations or provides new features that may or may not apply to your environment.
For servers using an HBA345, HBA330, or the Dell 12Gbps HBA and RHEL 8, the latest driver is recommended to be installed prior to performing an update of the ME484.
This new driver, driver version 30.00.00.00, resolves a kernel panic during the expander reset that happens when the ME484 is updating its firmware. If the kernel panic happens, RHEL 8 will kernel panic, and then restart the host. The firmware update of the ME484 will be successful though.
A similar issue was seen on RHEL 7, but instead of a kernel panic, the ME484 would no longer been see by the host OS. Performing a restart of the OS would then correct the issue. Using the latest 30.00.00.00 HBA driver fixed this issue as well.
