A. Device Driver Installation =============================
Tape Device Driver Installation Instructions Windows NT/2000, i386 (Intel) platform ============================================================ To install tape device driver files during the Backup Exec installation:
1. Extract the downloaded file to a temporary directory. This file is a self-extracting archive. Executing it will prompt for a location in which to extract the contents of the file.
2. Double-click the BNT86IDRV36.EXE file in the extracted folder to start the installation process.
3. When prompted to select components to install, select "Update Tape Device Drivers". If a robotic library is connected to the computer, also select "Update Robotic Library Drivers".
4. Click Next.
5. When the "Device Driver Installer" wizard appears, follow the instructions on screen.
After successfully installing the tape device drivers, Intelligent Disaster Recovery (IDR) must be updated if installed. To update IDR, follow these steps:
1. Stop all Backup Exec services.
2. In the \Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT* directory, rename DRPrepWizard.EXE to DRPrepWizard.HF7.
3. Navigate to the appropriate folder in the extracted file. For example, patch files for an English installation of Backup Exec are located in the ENG directory.
4. Copy the extracted DRPrepWizard.EXE file from the extracted hotfix directory to the \Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT* directory.
5. Start the Backup Exec services.
*Default directory created during the installation of Backup Exec for Windows NT and Windows 2000. If modified during install, directory may be different.
