Fixes & Enhancements
Bundling 07.25.22.61 RAID Controller Firmware release with Resource CD in a zip package.
Important Information
The firmware upgrade utility must be used to upgrade the controllers from the 06.xx.xx.xx controller firmware to the 07.xx.xx.xx controller firmware and I/O must be stopped prior to starting the download procedures. This includes any services dependant on the array, including Microsoft Cluster Services or database applications. The utility is installed along with the latest version of the MD Storage Manager. Once a controller is running the 07.xx.xx.xx controller firmware the controller firmware should be updated using the firmware download option in MDSM.
When updating your RAID controllers from firmware version 06.xx.xx.xx (Generation 1) to 07.xx.xx.xx (Generation 2), please use the FW version 07.35.22.61 included in this archive instead of version 07.35.22.60 packaged within the MD Firmware Cross Generation Upgrade Utility contained on the Resource CD. Firmware version 07.35.22.61 contains important updates that improve the cache management operation of your MD3000i. When using the MD Firmware Cross Generation Upgrade Utility, you will have to browse to the location where firmware version 07.35.22.61 was saved instead of using the default directory.
NOTE: The firmware upgrade utility will not allow you to upgrade from one version of 07.xx.xx.xx firmware to another, even though the controller firmware you are attempting to update to is a later or more recent version.
NOTE: In non-English versions of the MD Firmware Cross Generation Upgrade Utility, it has been observed that the firmware may fail to activate after the download. While pending activation, the RAID Controller Modules will continue to operate at the previous firmware version. To activate the firmware, the following smCLI command must be used: SMcli [IP of Controller A] [IP of Controller B] -c "activate storageArray firmware;" where [IP of Controller A] and [IP of Controller B] are replaced with the actual IP addresses of the RAID Controller Modules.
On the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 operating system, CDs are auto-mounted with the -noexec mount option. This option does not allow you to run any executable from the CD.
To fix this problem, you need to unmount the CD, then manually re-mount the CD-ROM and then run executables.
The command to unmount the CD-ROM is
# umount
The command to manually mount CD is
# mount
On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, libXP (deprecated in RHEL5) is
required for the management application to run. This should be
automatically installed as part of the linux install process.
In addition the library is available on the resource CD in
the /linux/RPMS/rh5 directory
