Installation instructions
To reinstall the NIC driver for Windows 98 and Windows Me, perform the following steps:
1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and click Control Panel. Then double-click the System icon.
2. In the System Properties window, click the Device Manager tab.
3. Click Network Adapters, and then click appropriate network adapter.
4. Click Properties.
5. Click the Driver tab.
6. Click the Update Driver button.
The Update Device Driver Wizard window appears.
7. Click Next.
8. Select Display a list of drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want, and click Next.
9. Click the Have Disk button.
10. Click Browse and locate the directory where the drivers were extracted, then click OK.
11. Verify the appropriate device is selected, and then click OK.
12. When the Update Device Driver Wizard states the location of the driver, click Next.
13. Click Finish.
14. When prompted to restart your system, click Yes.
To reinstall the NIC driver for Windows 2000, perform the following steps:
1. Right-click the My Network Places icon, click Properties.
2. Right-click the Local Area Connection icon, click Properties.
3. Click Configure, click the Driver tab, click Update Driver.
4. Select Display a list of known drivers….., and click Next, and then click Have Disk.
5. Verify that A: is entered in the Copy manufacturer’s files from box, or use the Browse button to point to the directory the driver was extracted to. (i.e. c:\dell\drivers\….)
6. Click Open on the default filename selected, and click OK, and NEXT, and NEXT to install the driver.
To reinstall the NIC driver for Windows XP, perform the following steps:
1. Click Start, Right-click the My Computer icon, click Properties.
2. Click the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button.
3. Click the + next to Network Adapters. Right click on the appropriate network adapter, click Properties.
4. Click on the Driver tab, click the Update Driver button.
5. Select Install from a list of specified location (Advanced), click Next.
6. Click Don’t Search, I will choose the driver to install, click Next
7. Click the Have Disk button.
8. Verify that A: is entered in the Copy manufacturer’s files from box or use the Browse button to point to the directory the driver was extracted to. (i.e. c:\dell\drivers\….)
9. Click OK to install the driver.
10. Verify that 3Com 3C920 Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller (3C905C-TX Compatible) is highlighted.
11. Click Next, click Finish.
To reinstall the NIC driver for Windows NT 4.0, perform the following steps:
1. Double-click the My Computer icon, double-click Control Panel, and then double-click the Network icon.
NOTE: If you are installing networking on your system for the first time, the Windows NT operating system displays a message asking if you want to install networking. Click Yes, and refer to your Windows NT documentation for instructions.
2. Click the Adapters tab in the Network Control Panel, and then click Update.
3. Type in the location of the network drivers and then click Continue.
4. Click Yes in the Network Settings Change window to restart your system.
