Running the PowerVault ML6000 Library Service Utility
NOTE: This utility needs to be run only on ML6000 libraries that are upgrading from firmware version 320G.GS004. This utility MUST be run before attempting firmware upgrade from 320G.GS004 to any later version

The library utility can be executed from any host server running Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003, or XP. Follow the steps below to install and run the utility.
a. Browse to the file you downloaded from http://support.dell.com and extracted to x:\dell\drivers\R231880\Utility\ where x: is the system root.
b. Double-click on the ML6000LibraryServiceUtilityInstall.exe and click the Next button.
c. Verify the installation path and click the Install button to proceed with the installation of the utility.

After the installation is complete, click on the Start menu and navigate to Programs ML6000 Library Service Utility. Click the shortcut to start the utility.
Once the utility has opened, click on the Wizards menu and select ML6000 Library Update Fix.
Ensure to read through all of the instructions in each window. Click the Next button until reaching the Get Library Address screen.
Enter the IP Address and admin password of the ML6000 unit to which you want the update applied. Click Next.
To apply the update, click the Perform ML6000 Library Update Fix button.
NOTE: If you enter in an invalid IP address or incorrect admin password in the previous step, the update will fail and a dialog message box will appear stating the SFTP login has failed. Press the Back button to confirm and re-enter the correct IP address or admin password.

CAUTION: After the update process starts, you must wait until it completes. Do not attempt to interrupt the process in any way. Loss of library operability could occur.

If the update was applied successfully a dialog box will appear stating the fix was successful and the library will be rebooted.

Upgrading the PowerVault ML6000 Library Firmware
Update the library application firmware using the Update Library Firmware command on the Tools menu on the Web client.
a. Browse to the firmware file that you downloaded from http://support.dell.com and extracted to x:\dell\drivers\R231880\Library\ where x: is the system root and apply the selection.

CAUTION: After the update process starts, you must wait until it completes. Do not attempt to interrupt the process in any way. Loss of data or library operability could occur.

A dialog box appears informing you that the library will reboot to update the library firmware.

After the library has rebooted, log in to the library and open the About Library report to verify that the library firmware was updated.
The paths to open the appropriate screens are as follows:

a. From the Web client, select Reports About ML6000.
b. From the operator panel, select Tools About Library.

Save the library configuration.
