Dell Remote Access Controller - ERA and DRACIII/XT, v.1.07, A04

To install using Server Administrator
-------------------------------------------------------
1. Download the OM-f_a04v107_bm.zip file.
2. Start Server Administrator.
3. Click System on the blue sidebar.
4. Click Main System Chassis on the blue sidebar.
5. Click Remote Access Controller on the blue sidebar.
6. Click the Update tab.

If installing from Server Administrator version 1.0.1:
7. You will be directed to the RAC GUI. Go to Section
"Using RAC GUI Firmware Update Interface" for
further update instructions.

If installing from Server Administrator version 1.1:
7. Click Browse and navigate to where the zip file was
downloaded above.
8. Select the zip file, click Validate Update File
9. After the file is validated, click Begin Update and
follow the remaining prompts to perform the update.

Note: After the firmware is updated, the LCD will display
"SERVER" until the system is rebooted.


Using RACADM Command line interface to Update Firmware:
-------------------------------------------------------
1. Download the OM-f_a04v107_bm.zip file to the server with
RAC installed.
2. Using WinZip or other extracting software, extract the
update files to the c:\temp directory.
3. Open a command shell window on the server with the RAC
hardware and update file.
4. In the command shell, enter the following racadm command.

racadm fwupdate -p -u -d c:\temp

-p: upload the update file from path specified using -d opt.
-u: update RAC after loading new firmware.
-d: path of firmware update file location. This path should
not have the filename.

5. After the update completes, the RAC will reset.

Note: After the firmware is updated, the LCD will display
"SERVER" until the system is rebooted.


Using RAC GUI Firmware Update Interface:
-------------------------------------------------------
1. Download the OM-f_a04v107_bm.zip file to your server.
2. Using WinZip or other extracting software, extract the
update files to your TFTP server root directory.
3. Open supported internet browser on server with RAC.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later
- Netscape Navigator 6.1 or later
4. Enter the IP address of the RAC in the URL address line
and hit enter. This will open a login window to the RAC
Use of the following methods to determine the IP address
of the RAC if it is not known:
a. Entering command in shell window: racadm getsysinfo -d
The RAC IP address will be displayed.
b. Start Server Administrator (from icon on desktop) and click
on the Remote Access Controller. The IP address will be in
the properties window.
5. Enter the RAC USERNAME and RAC PASSWORD in the login window.
6. Once logged into the RAC GUI, update your firmware by
performing the following steps:
a. From the RAC GUI main window, click the Update tab.
b. From the Firmware Update window, enter the
path where the RAC update file reside on your TFTP
server. If the image file resides in the root
directory of your TFTP server, leave it blank.
(Example: RACFW\V1.0\)
c. Specify the IP address for the TFTP Server where
the firmware image resides.
d. Click Update Firmware.
Note: The tftp file transfer, depending on your
network and tftp server, can take up to several minutes
to transfer the file to the RAC. After the download,
it takes 2 minutes to update the firmware. The RAC
resets after the firmware update is complete.

Note: After the firmware is updated, the LCD will display
"SERVER" until the system is rebooted.


Updating Using RAC Repair Utility Diskettes
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Use this utility to create two repair diskettes only if the firmware
can not be programmed using the above methods. This repair method will
reflash the RAC back
