To update HDD and SSD firmware through a ME484 Storage Enclosure using the Dell Storage PowerTools and SDK - Server Hardware Manager, please follow the steps below:
1. Download the latest firmware package for the specific drive from dell.com/support. 2. Stop all I/O between the server and the attached enclosures containing the drives for the update. 3. Run the shmcli command as per the Dell EMC Storage PowerTools Server Hardware Manager Administrator's Guide.
Note: Only firmware files with the .fwh extension are supported for updating hard drives using the shmcli.
4. The command will return an indication of success or failure.
