Extract the archive 1. Log in as the root user 2. At a command prompt, type "tar xzvf aic79xx-1.3.11p-sles9-1.tar.gz to extract the files from the compressed archive
Installing SLES 9 SP1 with a driver disk 1. Create the driver disk by typing the following in a text console on a Linux system: dd if=aic79xx-1.3.11p-suse-sles9-sp1-x86_64-dd.img of=/dev/fd0 2. Place the driver disk into the system's floppy drive on which you wish to install SLES 9 3. Boot to the SLES 9 SP1 x86_64 CD 1. Driver disk will be loaded automatically
RPM Installation 1. Download the latest dkms RPM from support.dell.com, or install the one from the archive by typing "rpm -Uvh dkms-2.0.5-1.noarch.rpm". If you receive a message that a newer dkms is installed on your system already, proceed to the next step 2. At a command prompt, type "rpm -Uvh aic79xx-1.3.11p-1dkms.noarch.rpm" to install the device driver.
