3. Important Information
======================================================================
NOTICE: Prior generation firmware is indicated by version that begins
with 06.xx.xx.xx, and the Generation 2 firmware starts with
07.xx.xx.xx. Existing hardware can be upgraded to the Generation 2
firmware. If updating from 06.xx.xx.xx version to 07.xx.xx.xx version,
the upgrade is one way only; it is not possible to return to prior
generation after starting this upgrade procedure.

NOTICE: Ensure that all Dell™ PowerVault™ MD1000 expansion enclosures
being connected to the MD3000i are updated to the latest Dell™
PowerVault™ MD1000 EMM Firmware from support.dell.com. Dell™
PowerVault™ MD1000 EMM Firmware version A03 is the minimum required
firmware level to support connection to the MD3000i array; attaching
an MD1000 with unsupported firmware causes an uncertified condition to
exist on the array. See the updated Hardware Owner's Manual on
http://support.dell.com for more information.

NOTICE: Ensure to check the MD3000i system support matrix on
support.dell.com prior to connecting MD1000 enclosures to an MD3000i
to ensure supported drives and firmware versions are used.

4. Firmware upgrade instructions
======================================================================
IMPORTANT: It is highly recommended to gather support information from
the "Support" tab of the MD Storage Manager prior to performing any
firmware upgrade operations. This can also be achieved through the SMcli
using the 'save storageArray supportData file="filename"' command.

NOTICE: If upgrading from 06.xx.xx.xx version to 07.
