DELL EMC RELEASE NOTES
DSS 9000 Rack Firmware Version 3.47

Please note this version of DSS 9000 Rack Firmware is only
intended as an intermediate step that is required to update
from older versions of FW to newer versions.

What is included:

The "generic" firmware update package included with this
readme (e.g. GNJ1H_RMg5update_03.47.tar.gz) is readily
consumable by the RackManager's RMg5update utility. The package
contains G5.5 FW version 3.47 for the MC's, IM's, and BC's.
It also contains switch FW version 1.14.0 for the G5.5 IM and
BCDB switches.

Currently, the MC/IM/BC FW must be updated seperately from
the switch FW.

Updating MC/IM/BC Firmware:

To update to this new firmware first download this update
package to the RackManager.

Before executing the update you may also need to download
your rack's unique Rackconfig separately and place it on the
RackManager in the /opt/dell/rm-tools/RMg5update/Rackconfigs/
directory, if not previously done, or if your rack configuration
has since been modified.

If a Rackconfig script was not provided to you directly, the
latest bundle of Rackconfig scripts can be found with Dell Part
Number: M12FT

Once ready, use RMg5update to install the new firmware:

* RMg5update [-vvv] [-D ] -R /path/to/update/package

Please note that during execution of RMg5update, the RM will lose
power when the IM module gets reset by the Managed MC; however,
execution of the FW update will continue on via the Managed MC.
The individual components will get updated in the order of BC1,
BC2, up to BCx, IM, MC's.


Updating IM and BCDB Switch Firmware:


To update to this new firmware, first download this update
package to the RackManager.

Decompress the package to a temporary directory:

* mkdir tmp/
* tar -xzf /path/to/update/package -C tmp/

To perform the update, use the RMg5update command with the switch FW's
.flash image:

* RMg5update [-vvv] [-D ] -t G5ALLSWITCH tmp/G5SwitchFW/G5_stark_fw_v1.14.0.flash
