Installation instructions
Loading Dell Library & Tape Tools Diagnostic package for use on the Dell PowerVault 110T LTO Tape Drive or Dell PowerVault 110T DLT1 Tape Drive for Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000
Requirements:
1) NT4.0 or Windows 2000
2) A Dell PowerVault 110T LTO or Dell PowerVault 110T DLT1 Tape Drive
Prior to installing the Diagnostic package:
1) Ensure the tape drive is powered on and the SCSI bus is in an idle state (stop and or hold all backup applications).
2) Print these instructions. It will help in the event the system may have to reboot and you will be able to resume where you left off.
Installing the Diagnostic package
1. Download and run the file 110TDIAG.EXE from a Microsoft Windows based system. This will create the directory: x:\Dell\Drivers\110T-LTO_DLT1-DIAG containing the files:
Dell_LTTInstall2.7.exe – the diagnostic program
Readme.doc – this file with instructions on installing the diagnostic application.
Readme.htm – this file with instructions on installing the diagnostic application that can be viewed with a Web browser.
2. Go to the directory x:\Dell\Drivers\110T-LTO_DLT1-DIAG. Click on the program Dell_LTTInstall2.7.exe and follow the directions to complete the installation. This program will create the default directory x:\Program Files\Dell Library & Tape Tools. At the end of the installation you will have to click on Finish to exit the installation application or start the Diagnostic application immediately by selecting the Start Dell L&TT button prior to clicking Finish.
In certain cases, the system may need to reboot at this time. If asked to do so, reboot the system and come back to this file in this directory (x:\Dell\Drivers\110T-LTO_DLT1-DIAG) to resume step 3 of these instructions.
3. This will also install a copy of the Dell Library & Tape Tools icon on your system desktop.
Running the Diagnostic Application
1. Click on the Dell Library & Tape Tools icon on your system desktop or click on HP_LTT.exe in the directory x:\Program Files\Dell Library & Tape Tools.
2. The Dell Library & Tape Tools – Version X.X window will appear.
3. Click on Continue.
4. The upgrade utility will search for any Dell PowerVault 110T LTO or Dell PowerVault 110T DLT1 tape drives attached to the system.
5. Click on the By Product tab in the left frame.
6. Select the HP Ultrium or BNCHMARK DLT1 drive you want to run diagnostics.
7. Click on the Test icon above.
8. Instructions for testing will appear on the left screen.
9. Select the device listed on the right frame that you wish to test.
10. There are a series of test that can be performed on the drive. They can be selected from the pull down Menu.
