Download
1. Click the "Download Now" link to download the file.
2. If the Export Compliance Disclaimer window appears, click the "I agree" link to accept the agreement.
3. When the File Download window appears, click "Save" to save the file to your hard drive.
Extract Files
1. Browse to the location where you downloaded the file and extract the file using the following commands:
From a Linux system type the following commands under a Linux command shell:
a. Change directory to where you downloaded the file
b. tar -xvzf aic7xxx_mod-v6.2.8-rhas21.tgz
c. Insert a blank floppy into the floppy drive
d. dd if=aic7xxx_mod-rhas2.1-v6.2.8.img of=/dev/fd0
From a Windows system using Winzip:
NOTE: Winzip does not extract the driver files correctly under Microsoft Windows without the following changes
a. Open Winzip
b. Click on ”Options” tab and select “Configuration”
c. Deselect “TAR File Smart CR/LF Conversion” and click OK
d. Right click the downloaded file and select “Extract to…”
e. Select “Yes” when asked to decompress it to a temporary folder.
f. From WinZip, select aic7xxx_mod-rhas2.1-v6.2.8.tar.gz and click Extract
f. Enter A:\ at the "Extract to:" box and click "Extract".
Installation
1. Boot your system with a Red Hat Linux Advance Server 2.1.
2. At the boot prompt, enter "expert noprobe".
3. When asked insert this driver disk.
4. When you get to a screen where it asks if you want to load some drivers,
choose "Add Device", followed by "SCSI". From the list of drivers, choose
"Updated Adaptec aic7xxx version 6.2.8...". Load all other drivers by
selecting "Add More" and then follow the installation instructions on the
screen.
