Fixes & Enhancements
This firmware is Recommended, if the customer faces encounters ECC errors from the PERC controller. This issue is rare and will not affect PERC DIMMs shipped with all controller/platform. On PERC 4eDc controllers and 68xx systems with PERC 4eDi controllers the chance of occurrence is low but the update is recommended at the next schedule outage or update cycle due to the potential to see the issue.
1. Fixed an issue of system lock ups and controller hangs in caused due to single bit/multi bit errors in some configurations.
2. Modified the PERC Option ROM to improve CHS (Cylinder/Head/Sector) to LBA (Logical Block Address) translation, to add support for newer disk partition utilities like Diskpart 2.0
Important Information
After installing this firmware and rebooting, a consistency check will automatically begin on RAID 5 and 50 virtual disks with 5 or more physical disks to ensure parity information is correct. The consistency check cannot be terminated and will resume at its last point following a reboot. This consistency check will appear as a Background Initialization but will only perform a consistency check with no data being modified. The consistency check runs in the background, allowing the virtual disks to remain accessible during the check. While this background check is designed to minimize performance impact, some degradation in performance may occur until the check is complete, especially under heavy I/O.
