Dell Technologies recommends applying this update during your next scheduled update cycle. The update contains changes to maintain overall system health. It ensures that the system software remains current and compatible with other system modules (firmware, BIOS, drivers, and software) and may include other new features.
- This firmware is only compatible with the newer wireless adapter/network card that is used on the Dell Color Smart Printer S5840cdn. If you have an older wireless network card, the update disables the wireless connectivity. Update the printer with the A04 firmware to reset and restore the wireless connectivity.
- Do not disconnect any cables, or turn off the printer/computer during this update. It can corrupt the printer memory and damage the printer. It is also recommended that you do not downgrade the firmware.
Note: During the update, do not power off, disconnect the power cable cord, or restart the printer.
1. Go to the EWS page of the printer. 2. Click the Settings link. 3. Select the Device, and click the Update Firmware option. Browse to the file with the (.fls) extension and click Submit. Wait for the printer to enter the ready mode.
