Updating the Dell Printer Firmware
Downloading and extraction
1. Download the self-extractable file R148844.exe from the Dell Support Website and save it to your hard drive. Input the Save-to location for ease of finding the file after the download has completed.
2. After the download has completed, locate and double-click the file R148844.exe to begin the file extraction process.
3. Input the folder to extract the files. This folder will contain the necessary files needed for the firmware update.
Confirming current printer firmware version
1. At the printer operation panel, select SETUP from the menu using the navigation button.
2. Then select Reports followed by System Settings and a System Settings report will be printed. Depending on optional hardware installed in the printer, it may be 2 pages long.
3. The current printer firmware version is found in the General section under Firmware Version
Running the Firmware Update Utility
1. Turn on the Printer and wait for the printer operation panel LCD to show Ready to print.
2. Browse to the folder where the required files have been extracted in and run dellfwup.exe.
3. Choose the connection port between the firmware update system and the printer and click Next.
4. A status bar will report the firmware update progress. Do not attempt to power off the printer before the firmware update utility display a completion notification page on the system.
5. Print the printer setting report again to check if the printer firmware version has been updated successfully.
