Fixes & Enhancements

Fixes:
- Firmware mitigation for a drive hang that can occur due to collision between CPU cores during a cache access, causing one core to halt.
- Change to write cache behavior. With this change, the drive write cache will never be disabled, regardless of whether the host issues a SET FEATURES command to disable the write cache.
- Enhancements to the algorithm for processing a Sanitize Crypto Scramble Ext command, an ISE feature. Improved the drive response to host SANITIZE STATUS EXT commands.
- Fix for a charge loss a charge loss mechanism that can occur under specific low write, high read and long idle time workloads, that potentially resulting in temporarily degraded performance and in extreme cases uncorrectable errors.
- Enhancement to increase speed of TRIM command processing.
- Under specific read intensive workloads, conditions can be met that can introduce a Read Disturb issue, potentially resulting in uncorrectable errors.
- Improved asynchronous power loss handling.
- Fix for a potential command timeout when a valid non-media command is sent to the drive during a Sanitize Block Erase operation.
- Fix for a case where the Sanitize Block Erase progress indicator may regress when the host polls the device with at an interval of 100ms.
- Fix for a vulnerability identified in the firmware download process that could potentially be exploited to affect the operation of the drive.
- Firmware security barrier introduced, to prevent downgrading firmware from D0DE006 to any prior version. Not applicable for D0DE005 for testing reason.
- Bootloader fix for a vulnerability identified in the secure boot process that could potentially be exploited to affect the operation of the drive.

This update will not run if any of the following conditions exist
1. Any Virtual Disk that is not optimal.
2. A RAID container that is performing a Background Initialization or Consistency Check.
3. A Rebuild, Resync, or copyback function is taking place.
4. A RAID set that is Partially Degraded or in a Degraded state.

This update will run on drives remaining in a RAID set that is in a Offline state.

There is an architectural constraint with Dell DUP HDD firmware update utility, related to system memory utilization, which is typically encountered on systems with minimal system memory, memory-intensive configurations, multiple RAID controllers, or memory-intensive applications. This issue is typically reported as - The operation was not successful because the device buffer write has failed. And will result in an aborted attempt to update firmware on the identified HDD. Error codes associated with this failure mode include 8009 and 8017. Once an error is detected, the update session is aborted. There is no data integrity or data availability risk associated with this issue. Subsequent attempts to update the HDD firmware may succeed, particularly if system resources are freed up.
