Fixes & Enhancements
Fixes: WUH722020AL5200
Enhancements: KPM7WVUG3T20 (FW: C501, FIPS: 140-3) Note: This FW is not compatible with the C4xx FW family for this drive.
Dell Technologies recommends applying this update during your next scheduled update cycle. The update contains changes to maintain overall system health. It ensures that the system software remains current and compatible with other system modules (firmware, BIOS, drivers, and software) and may include other new features.
This HDD/SSD firmware update package contains the latest HDD/SSD firmware images supported in the Dell EMC PowerVault ME Storage Enclosure.
Note: The Kioxia KPM7WVUG3T20 drive is available in two versions, one FIPs 140-2 certified the other FIPs 140-3 certified. Because of this, there are different FW images which support the different FIPs policy certifications. C4xx FW is certified for the 140-2 version, while C5xx FW is certified for the 140-3 version. These firmware version are not interchangeable. Attempting to flash the incorrect version FW will result in an update failure.
During the next scheduled maintenance window, please update the drive firmware to the latest level.
To update Physical Disk firmware through a ME40xx/ME50xx enclosure using Dell ME PowerVault management application, please follow the steps below:
1) Obtain the appropriate firmware file and download it to your computer or network.
2) It is recommended to stop IO to the storage system. During the update all volumes will be temporarily inaccessible to hosts. If I/O is not stopped, mapped hosts will report I/O errors. Volume access is restored after the update completes.
3) Update disk firmware as per direction in the Administrator's Guide. It typically takes several minutes for the firmware to load. Wait for a message that the update has completed.
CAUTION: Do not power cycle enclosures or restart a controller during the firmware update. If the update is interrupted or there is a power failure, the disk drive might become inoperative. If this occurs, contact technical support.
4) Verify that each disk drive has the new firmware revision.
