Installation instructions
If you select (a), it will launch and run the self extracting program and
will place
the drivers in the directory you specify.
If you select (b), it will prompt you for a location to save your files
to. Once
the download is complete, you will need to change to the location that it
was saved to,
and launch the file from there.
It is recommended that you select (a), Run Program.
After drivers have been saved to the local Drive, perform the following:
-- Go to device manager and install CMD IDE controller driver for Windows
2000 by the
following steps:
a. Verify that you have been logged on to your system as Administrator.
b. Make sure your system is attached to the Dell Docking Station.
c. Right click on my computer icon, select properties, left click
on 'Hardware'
tab, and then on 'Device Manager' button.
d. Double click on 'IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers', then on 'Standard Dual
Channel
PCI IDE controller' or if present "CMD PCI Ultra DMA Controller", left
click
on 'Driver' tab, then on 'Update Driver' button to bring up 'Upgrade
Device
Driver Wizard.'
e. Select 'search for a suitable driver for my device' and click 'next'
when install
hardware drivers.
Select 'Specify a Location' and 'CD-ROM Drives' (If Drivers are on a CD-
ROM).
click 'next', type in the location where you extracted the driver files.
At search results, the Driver Wizard either found the \cmdide.inf at the
first time CMD driver is installed or found the c:\winnt\inf\oem0.inf if
the cmdide.inf
has been installed to the hard disk before.
Continue to install and ignore the 'Digital signature not found' message.
Click 'OK' to copy driver file.
You must restart the computer for the CMD IDE driver to take effect.
Notes: Make sure the transfer mode settings is "DMA if available" in the
IDE channel properties
under device manager to get maximal performance.
