LITEONIT CV8 M.2 Solid-State Drive Firmware Update

It is recommended that you back up your data before performing this update. Do not interrupt your system during the firmware upgrade process. If the firmware upgrade process is interrupted, the solid-state drive may not function properly.

Note:
Before updating this firmware, ensure that you back up the data in the system and close all open applications. It is also recommended to connect the power cable when it is not a desktop and disconnect all external storage devices.

Download
1. Click Download File and follow the remaining prompts to download the file.
2. When the file download window is displayed, click Run to extract the download package to your hard drive.
3. The file explorer opens pointing to the directory containing the download package. Take note of the path.

Firmware upgrade through the Windows utility

Procedure
1. Run the utility to start Firmware update process.
A window is displayed where you can select the solid-state drive (SSD) to be updated.
2. Select your drive from the list.
3. Click Update.
After the FW upgrade completes, Flash finished is displayed.
4. Click OK.
5. Click Yes to reboot.
The system reboots and loads the firmware.
The firmware version can be checked in Device Manager. Open device manager -> SSD -> Properties -> choose hardware ID under Details and check the firmware version.

Firmware upgrade through the DOS utility

Procedure via Bootable USB
1. Go to https://rufus.akeo.ie/downloads/ to download Rufus.
2. Insert a at least 4GB USB drive, run Rufus. All the content in the USB will be destroyed, back up before doing so.
3. In the Rufus interface, select your USB device.
4. Check the Create a bootable disk using and change it from FreeDos to ISO Image.
5. Click the CD rom icon right next to it and browse it to the .iso file in DOS folder of the firmware utility and click Start.
6. Rufus prompts a warning message that all the data in the USB drives will be destroyed, click OK to proceed or Cancel if you had not back up the data inside.
7. You may close Rufus once it shows Ready.
8. Insert the Bootable USB into the target system, boot the system from USB drive.
9. After the system boots into DOS, user is prompted to press Enter. Press "Enter" to proceed.
10. You'll see warning message which states the risks and reminds user to backup important files before proceeding. Press Y to proceed.
11. The tool detects the attached SSDs and prompts whether to update the drive. Press Y to proceed.
12. When the firmware upgrade process completes, reboot the system. It will boot into Windows afterwards.
The firmware version can be checked in Device Manager. Open device manager -> SSD -> Properties -> choose hardware ID under Details and check the firmware version.

Procedure via CD-R
1. Go into the DOS sub-directory.
2. Insert a blank CD-R disc into CD/DVD R/W drive.
3. Burn the ISO image into the CD-R media.
4. Insert the CD-R (with ISO image) into the CD/DVD drive in the target system.
5. Boot the system from the CD/DVD drive.
6. Select the target drive after the system boots into DOS. The tool detects the attached SSD.
7. You'll see warning message which states the risks and reminds user to backup important files before proceeding. Press Y to proceed.
8. When the firmware upgrade process completes, the user is prompted to reboot the system. Remove the CD-R from your CD/DVD drive and reboot the system. It boots into Windows afterwards.
