Correctifs et améliorations
The following modifications were made to the A09 BIOS to create A10:
Issues Fixed:
1. Fixed issue in which modular bay and dock media bay drives may
not be recognized correctly by SMBIOS under an ACPI operating
systems.
2. Fixed problem where the Madge PCMCIA Token Ring card may cause the
system to lockup under Windows 2000.
3. Fixed problem under Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 where a Matrox
Millennium G450 PCI card installed in a C/Dock or C/DockII PCI slot
would be listed in Device Manager with an error.
4. Fixed a problem with an erratic USB Mouse while running the Dell
Diagnostic utilities.
5. Fixed poor modem and serial port connectivity under APM and
ACPI operating systems.
6. Fixed problem in which SMBIOS fails to notify Dell Open Manage
Client Instrumentation of system fan failures.
7. Fixed problem where the hot-key will not respond under
ACPI with A/C attached and no batteries installed.
8. Fixed issue in which System Setup displays the wrong capacity
for hard disk drives larger than 65GB.
9. Fixed problem where there may be slow device recognition for USB
devices connected to HUBs during POST and while in use.
10. Fixed problem where the USB signal strength would deteriorate when
using five meter long cables.
11. Fixed problem under Windows 98SE where a pink or blue bar would
appear on the upper portion of the display after exiting from the
BIOS Setup screen.
Enhancements:
1. Enhanced BIOS code supprot to allow Computrace Security Software to
run more reliably.
2. Updated the Pre-boot System Assessment (PSA) diagnositics to build
version 3009.
3. Upgraded the Intel video BIOS to version 2756.

Floppy Disk Boot to Disk for A10-C400.exe
Download
1. Click Download Now, to download the file.
2. When the File Download window appears, click Save (Windows XP users will click Save) this program to disk and click OK. The Save In:
window appears.
3. From the Save In: field, click the down arrow then click to
select Desktop and click Save. The file will download to your desktop.
4. If the Download Complete window appears, click Close. The file
icon appears on your desktop.
Hard Drive Floppy Disk Creation
1. Get 1 blank, formatted floppy disks.
2. Double-click the new icon (it looks like a floppy diskette) on
the desktop. The Self-Extractor window appears.
3. Click Setup. An black MS-DOS window appears with a message
indicating that you need 1 floppy diskettes.
4. Press the [ENTER] key.
A message appears prompting you to insert a blank floppy diskette.
5. Insert a floppy disk into the floppy disk drive.
6. Press the [ENTER] key. A message appears indicating that all
data on the disk will be erased.
7. Press the [y] key and then press the [ENTER] key.
The files are copied to the floppy diskette. If the procedure requires
more than one diskette, repeat steps 5 – 7 until you reach the end of the diskette set.
8. After all the files have been copied to the last floppy disk,
press the [ENTER] key and the MS-DOS window closes.
Install
1. Insert the first (or the only) disk of the set into the Floppy
drive.
2. Click Start, click Shutdown, click Restart, and then click OK.
Windows XP Users need only click restart.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Custom Instructions for C400_A10.exe:
This file format consists of a BIOS executable file. To use it, download
the file and copy it to a DOS-bootable diskette. With the diskette in the
floppy drive, reboot the system and run the program.
Custom Instructions for C400_A10.TXT:
This file format contains plain text which can be viewed with a standard
text editor.

Download
1. Click Download Now, to download the file.
2. If the Export Compliance Disclaimer window appears, click
Yes, I
Accept this Agreement.
3. When the File Download window appears, click Save

Install
1. Double-click the new icon on the desktop labeled
A10_C400.exe.
2. The Self-Extracting window appears and prompts you to
extract or
unzip to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R57266. Write down this path so the
executable (I.e.
Setup.exe) file can be found later.
3. The Self-Extractor window appears.
4. Click OK.
5. After completing the file extraction, if the Self-Extractor
window is still open, close it.
6. Click the Start button and then click Run.
7. Type C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R57266 in the Open textbox and
then click OK.
8. Follow the on-screen installation instructions.
