Installation steps:
Double click on the ZIP file to extract it to a folder
If you are installing the driver for Mac OS 10:
1. Open the "Mac OS 10" folder and click on the Dell Laser Printer 1720_1720dn.mpkg file
2. Follow the instructions
3. Select the Hard Disk to install on and click Continue
4. Click install
5. Key in the password for the admin account if necessary
6. Open Print Center (10.2) or Printer Setup Utility (10.3+) located in /Applications/Utilities.
7. From the Printers menu, select Add Printer.
8. If you want to print using IP Printing:
9. Choose IP Printing from the pop-up menu (10.2), or click the IP Printer toolbar icon (10.3+).
10. Enter the IP address of the printer.
11. Choose the printer manufacturer from the Printer Model pop-up menu.
12. Select the printer from the list, and then click Add.
13. If you want to print using AppleTalk:
14. Choose AppleTalk from the pop-up menu (10.2), or click More Printers... and then choose AppleTalk from the pop-up menu (10.3+).
15. Choose the AppleTalk Zone from the list.
NOTE: Look under the AppleTalk heading on the printer network setup page to know which zone and printer to select.
16. Choose the printer from the list, and then click Add.
17. Verify the printer installation.
18. Open TextEdit in /Applications.
19. From the File menu, choose Print.
20. Choose Summary from the Copies & Pages pop-up menu.
21. If the correct PPD for the printer model is displayed under the Error Reporting group: Setup is completed.
If Generic PostScript Printer is displayed under the Error Reporting group: Delete the printer from the Printer List in Print Center or Printer Setup Utility, and follow the instructions again to set up the printer.
If you are installing the driver for Mac OS 9:
1. Open the "Mac OS 9" folder.
2. Click on the "Dell_Laser_Printer_1720_Mac_OS_9" file if you are installing on 1720 base unit, click on "Dell_Laser_Printer_1720dn_Mac_OS_9" file if you are installing on 1720 with network connection.

3. Select the Hard Disk to install on and click Continue
4. Click install
5. Key in the password for the admin account if necessary
6. Open Desktop Printer Utility, usually located in Applications: Utilities.
7. Select Printer (USB), and then click OK.
8. In the USB Printer Selection section, click Change.
Notes: If the printer does not appear in the USB Printer Selection list, ensure that the USB cable is properly connected between the printer and the computer, and that the printer is turned on.
9. Select the printer, and then click OK.
The printer appears in the Printer (USB) window.
10. In the PostScript Printer Description (PPD) File section, click Auto Setup or Change to choose the PPD file manually. Ensure that the printer PPD matches the printer model
11. Click Create.
12. Click Save.
13. Enter a name for the printer, and then click OK.
The printer is saved as a Desktop Printer.
